, the pedestrian safety, i live on arguello and geary. i have been a victim of the negligence of the sidewalks. my concern and i have had many people communicate with me, right now, about clement street, and the issues there. there is one particular partial that is blocking the sidewalk. their merchandise is taking up parking spaces and there doesn't seem to be anything done about it. i am just wondering about the enforcement, who is going to be responsible? i have also been a victim on that street and back in 1993 and ' 94 i was one of the co-founders of "clean up [khr-efplt/] clement street." and we had a meeting at that time at french hospital and we had over 400, 500 people show up. we had everybody there. and we focused on the produce markets, because that is where a lot of the problems came from. and we had many people outrageous about what was happening and we are right back where we were in '93-94. we got an ordinance passed. i have it with me this evening. we had an ordinance passed where these merchants were to clean up their act, and make the street safety for the residents of this co
that we received from david heller who is the president of our greater geary boulevard merchants and property owners association. so, i'll just read this letter for you. the greater geary boulevard merchants and property owners association wholeheartedly supports the continuation of the outside lands music and arts festival. we appreciate the remarkable contribution this single event makes to our merchants, employees, and the city of san francisco each year. our businesses cover an expansive area from van ness to the ocean. we see a substantial increase in foot traffic and sales for aye two-week period around the festival. this event brings us customers from outside the bay area who are introduced to our restaurants, cafes, hotels, bank, salons, florists and service stations for the first time. the fiscal impact of new customers is palpable. this festival has brought dramatic increases in revenue each year in august. the economic boost is felt by a wide variety of businesses for the week before and after the event. our merchants, property owners and employees appreciate much need

and geary -- sixth and geary. a lot of issues in our neighborhood tend to be graffiti, carbos thing. sometimes, there are robberies, and on occasion the occasional killing happens. but it is nowhere near the other problems that other districts have. i often what the district with the police captain and look at the data that comes out to look at where crimes happen within the district. there is often different types of criminal activity that happen, but the police, i think, are very sensitive when residents call to really hone in on key areas and no one crime may happen, but it is a very primitive and proactive approach. i do think that the police department is one of the most community sensitive in our district as well, so they often are, with community meetings, and building a community advisory committee, our officers work closely with our police department to ensure that our neighborhood is safe. >> governor brown proposed eliminating funding for redevelopment agencies. talking about your opinion of this plan. >> i think the governor's proposal is very dangerous, and it may reall
